The i80 Sports TollBooth- Week 13 MLS Sportsbook Picks
Updated: Jul 30, 2021
Hey all- thanks for joining us at i80 Sports for week 13 (!!!) of Major League Soccer sportsbook picks! Yet another week in the green brings us up to +27.19 units on the 2021 season. Below is last week's accountability.
Skip to the dotted line for week 13 picks!

Match- Chicago Fire host Toronto FC
Pick- Toronto FC +200
Result- 2-1 Toronto WIN
Chicago led the game with 56% possession and 31 shots to Toronto's 8- HOWEVER the difference was the defense and goalie play. Bono stood on his head at times for Toronto, who did a great job of keeping Chicago at or near the edge of the box.
Match- Real Salt Lake host Colorado Rapids
Pick- Colorado Rapids +200
Result- 0-3 Colorado LOSS
I got this one wrong- predicting wing play in Colorado’s while the real difference was Rubin and Wood’s central attack. Colorado won in every major category except goals and RSL takes a 3-0 win.
Match- Inter Miami CF host Philadelphia Union
Pick- Philadelphia Union +165
Result- 1-1 DRAW
Lack of urgency killed Philadelphia in this 1-1 away draw with Miami. Przybylko tied the game late with a point-blank tap-in which was too late- coming in the 86th minute.
Match- Seattle Sounders host Sporting Kansas City
Pick- Sporting Kansas City +190
Result- SKC 3-1 WIN
I had this one right all alone- and even predicted the goal scorers! With Pulido out it was a good game for Johnny Russell and Daniel Salloi to step up with a goal apiece.
i80 Sports Tollbooth- Week 13 MLS Picks
Match- NYCFC hosts Columbus Crew
Pick- Columbus Crew +500
The Columbus Crew have turned a bad situation (missing players on international duty) into a bit of a hot streak- they have won 2 of their last 3 games and are unbeaten in 6 straight.
NYCFC is a team I have sworn to stop betting on, but at +500 I must just be missing something. These odds are two high for competitive teams playing on a full week rest.
Key to the Game- With Gyasi Zardes out on international duty, Columbus should turn to Bradley “the NYCFC Slayer” Wright-Phillips atop a formation that, despite missing valuable pieces, still has Pedro Santos and Lucas Zelarayan.
Match- Orlando City hosts Atlanta United
Pick- Orlando City -120
This match features two teams who have been decimated with injury and International duties as of late. Atlanta United can't spiral forever, but I think Orlando City will have enough to take care of them at home this week.
While Atlanta did secure a draw on April 17th against Orlando, they will this time be without Bello, Guzan, Hyndman, and PROBABLY Barco. Orlando is in a similar boat- with Dike, Jhegson, and POSSIBLY Gallese and Nani.
Key to the Game- Depth.
Orlando has 14 players with at least 500 minutes in the 2021 season because they move starters, get creative with formations, and rotate players. In fact, they are top 5 in substitutions, top 10 in minutes per substitution, and can trust coach Oscar Pareja to get the best out of his players for a full 90.
Match- FC Cincinnati hosts DC United
Pick- DC United +135
The most excitement to come out of Cincy this season is their announcement of hosting the USMNT vs Mexico game later this year. The team is in poor form- no win in their last 5 matches including draws with Columbus and Atlanta during their last two home games.
DC United has been hot or cold lately- beating RBNY after tying the Fire (and they beat Toronto 7-1 in there somewhere too).
Key to the Game- DC United is going to win because they are more aggressive at winning the ball and should have a good possession advantage.
FC Cincinnati is giving up over 2 goals per game, so expect Ola Kamara to have a busy day in front of the net.
Match- Austin FC hosts Colorado Rapids
Pick- Colorado +220
Austin FC will play their 5th straight at Q2- well after the “new stadium” smell wore off while dropping their last two home games. In fact, in their last 4 home games Austin FC has only 4 goals- all against the Portland Timbers.
Rapids, on the other hand, have key players out on international break (we will have to wait another week to see Kelly Acosta pair up with Mark-Anthony Kaye).
Key to the Game- Skill.
Colorado Rapids are just a better team than Austin at this point in the season. Pochettino has been a disappointment and the attack has been incompetitent.
To contrast, Rapids have Diego Rubio, Andre Shinyashiki, and even 20 year old Braian Galvan who will be too much to contain.
