Welcome back to another edition of i80 Sports Toll booth- the best place on the web for Major League Soccer Sportsbook Picks!

Match- FC Cincinnati host Charlotte FC

Pick- Charlotte or Draw +105

This weekend we have a good match between two teams fighting for an Eastern Conference playoff spot. While Cincinnati has been better than their previous Wooden Spoon form, I find it hard to believe they are good enough for a playoff spot. And while Cincy has only 1 loss in their last 13 matches, they also only have 2 wins. They are 2-10-1 since June.

I think Charlotte will do enough to win here and flip the two teams in the standings. Their season has been wildly unpredictable, so I like the +105 on Charlotte to win or draw this match. Considering their earlier win over Cincy this season, according to MLS this will be Charlotte’s first chance in their history to beat the same MLS team twice in one season.

Key to the Match-

Charlotte loves to play with width, and for me the two players to watch are Yordy Reyna out left and Karol Swiderski at forward (seeing as he scored twice during his first match against Cincy).

In this match I love both teams to score, but given how Cincinnati just cant hold onto a win, I like the double chance on Charlotte and a Draw at just OVER even money at +105.

Match- SJ Quakes host Vancouver Whitecaps

Pick- Whitecaps or Draw -125

With so many odds, in my opinion, being spot-on this week, I am looking at a second double chance with Vancouver beating or drawing the Quakes in San Jose.

Vancouver Whitecaps are still fighting for a playoff spot, and I think they can help their chances with a strong showing this week. While their 9-7-12 record asks more questions than it provides answers, they are playing last place San Jose who is 5-5-3 at home this season.

Key to the Match-

San Jose is bad against crosses and not much better in the air. This could be a Brian White game, with Lucas Cavallini suspended.

The real strength of Vancouver will likely come from the center of the field, with Ryan Gauld and Julian Gressel locking down the midfield and providing service.

Match- Nashville SC host Austin FC

Pick- Nashville -125

Nashville SC, following a 3 game win streak, are 11-9-9 and currently sit at 5th place in the Western Conference. While they have had a tough time settling into their new Western Conference home, they appear to be back on track.

Austin, on the other hand, has lost 2 of their last 3 while scoring only 1 goal each in those matches. This game against the traditionally strong Nashville defense could provide another of those rare matches where Austin isn’t crashing the net.

Key to the Match-

Hany Mukhtar is still in the hunt for the Golden Boot, and faces off against Driussi who has the same season goal. This match is going to be GREAT and we get to see it again in just a few weeks.

While Nashville will be without Randall Leal with a suspension, Austin will be without Urruti with a hamstring. Austin could replace Urruti with Danny Hoesen, but Hoesen’s 3 goals in 2022 (as well as his past work in San Jose) leave me thinking that Danny is, in fact, second best.

Match- Portland Timbers host Atlanta United

Pick- Portland Timbers +105

This might be my first pick on Portland in quite some time, but this is less about my faith in Portland as my disdain for what Atlanta has put on the field this season. At 8-9-11 Atlanta is just about out of playoff contention; I think they are simply demoralized.

Portland Timbers control their own future, and I think they are the team from the great Northwest, not Seattle, that will see postseason soccer. They had two tough wins, back to back, against Seattle and Austin, which points to a mismatch against Atlanta this weekend.

Key to the Match-

I hate to point strictly to home advantage here, but Atlanta is miserable with only .57 points per game on the road. They are 1-5-8 this season in opposing team’s arenas.

Portland, in contrast, has a 6-6-2 record at home and haven't lost a home game since May 23rd. They are out-scoring opponents 24 to 16 in those matches, and have 1.71 points per game at home. This one is within their control, and they are hungry. Take Portland at +105.
