The 2021 i80Sports top 50 Fantasy Free Agents

By: Steven Wasco

The 2021 NFL Free Agency Frenzy is just around the corner! Unlike other sites that will rank all of the Free Agents, I will instead be discussing fantasy relevant players who will have an impact on their future teams!

1. Quarterback Dak Prescott

Age: 27

2018 Stats: 3885 Passing, 22 TDs, 8 Ints, QB 10, 17.87 PPG

2019 Stats: 4902 Passing, 30 TDs, 11 Ints, QB 2, 21.8 PPG

2020 Stats: 61856 Passing, 9 TDs, 4 Ints, QB 33, 27.73 PPG (5 Games played)

It’s no surprise that Dak Prescott makes the top spot of our Free Agency Rankings. Prescott’s absence was sorely missed in a year where even with Andy Dalton playing, the Cowboys had a shot at the playoffs until week 14. But from a fantasy perspective, Prescott was lighting the fantasy world on fire. Until his injury in week 5, Prescott was scoring 27.73 points per game, if you average out his PPG over 16 games, Prescott would have finished with 443. 68 total points, which would have beaten Josh Allen’s #1 finish by nearly 40 points. Whatever team Dak goes to, if the Cowboys fail to resign him, he will make the team an instant playoff contender and will continue to be a staple of your fantasy roster.

Prediction: Cowboys or Colts

2. Wide Receiver Allen Robinson II

Age 27

2018 Stats: 55 Rec, 754 Yds, 4 TDs, WR 41, 9.7 PPG

2019 Stats: 98 Rec, 1147 Yds, 7 TDs, WR 11, 12.9 PPG

2020 Stats: 102 Rec, 1250 Yds, 6 TDs, WR 12, 13.2 PPG

Robinson makes the list as the top Fantasy WR in this market. He is still a highly productive receiver, in 4 of his 6 seasons that he has played (missed his 4th season to an ACL tear), Robinson has seen 150 + targets, including 154 targets in 2019 and 151 targets in 2020. He has been productive despite questionable quarterback play. Robinson is almost assuredly not returning to Chicago so anywhere he goes, he will be very productive and post top 20 receiver numbers.

Prediction: Packers, Dolphins, or Colts

3. Wide Receiver Chris Godwin

Age 24

2018 Stats: 59 Rec, 842 Yds, 7 TDs, WR 25, 9.7 PPG

2019 Stats: 86 Rec, 1333 Yds, 9 TDs, WR 2, 16.7 PPG

2020 Stats: 65 Rec, 840 Yds, 7 TDs, WR 32, 13.2 PPG

Chris Godwin will most likely be re-signed or Franchise Tagged by the Buccaneers, but in case he isn’t he is still a valuable Fantasy asset. Even though his 2020 stats aren’t as flashy as his previous season in 2019, he still averaged, in the 12 games he played, 13.2 fantasy points per game (in .5 PPR). He has played with Fitzpatrick, Winston, and Brady and has been a reliable fantasy asset every year. Regardless if he stays in Tampa or goes elsewhere, Godwin will still be a plug and play every game he is in. Also keep in mind that he is only 24 years old, he is young and still full of talent!

Prediction: Buccaneers use Franchise Tag

4. Wide Receiver Juju Smith-Schuster

Age 24

2018 Stats: 111 Rec, 1426 Yds, 7 TDs, WR 8, 15.1 PPG

2019 Stats: 42 Rec, 552 Yds, 3 TDs, WR 66, 7.7 PPG

2020 Stats: 97 Rec, 831 Yds, 9 TDs, WR 18, 11.6 PPG

Juju makes the top 5 for two reasons: age and targets. Juju is young and brings an unselfish and very mature attitude to his play. He does not demand targets and does his job. Career wise Juju has caught 69.5% of all his catchable targets. In 2018 and 2020 he had 166 and 128 targets respectively. He led the team in catches and tied for the lead in TDs. Why isn’t he higher? Well his YPG dropped from 13.1 to 8.6 from 2019 to 2020. That’s an important fact to remember. Juju operates best in the slot but can be flexed to the outside making him a valuable fantasy asset for any offensive coordinator who can use him effectively.

Prediction: Steelers, Dolphins, 49ers, or Colts

5. Tight End Hunter Henry

Age 26

2018 Stats: Missed with ACL Tear

2019 Stats: 55 Rec, 652 Rec, 5 TDs, TE 9, 10.2 PPG

2020 Stats: 60 Rec, 613 Rec, 4 TDs, TE 13, 8.2 PPG

Hunter Henry rounds out the top 5 fantasy players in Free Agency. He is a big time weapon between the 20’s and over his career he has caught 69% of his targets. What keeps Henry from being higher on this list is his Touchdowns. Unlike the elite Tight Ends like Travis Kelce, Hunter Henry has never broken more than 700 yards and has not posted a 10 TD season. However, if used in the right system the potential is there, and what’s more is that we have seen that potential time and time again. I think the Chargers move on from Henry and he goes elsewhere and shines.

Prediction: Chargers, Saints, or Giants

6. Wide Receiver Kenny Golladay

Age 27

2018 Stats: 70 Rec, 1063 Yds, 5 TDs, WR 21, 11.5 PPG

2019 Stats: 65 Rec, 1190 Yds, 11 TDs, WR 6, 13.5 PPG

2020 Stats: 20 Rec, 338 Yds, 2 TDs, WR 103, 11.2 PPG

Despite an injured plagued 2020, Golladay is still a great fantasy asset. Should he leave Detroit, he is a great Wide receiver. Despite injury, everytime Golladay was on the field he averaged 11.2 points per game. When healthy he is almost guaranteed a vast target share and will be a high impact target.

Prediction: Packers, Colts, Eagles, or 49ers

7. Running Back Aaron Jones
